Kat is an associate with Kastner Ko LLP. They were called to the Ontario bar in 2020. Their practice includes employment, labour, civil litigation, human rights, and state accountability matters.
Kat assists employees and employers in navigating all aspects of the employment relationship, including wrongful dismissal, harassment, and human rights claims.
Before joining the firm, Kat worked as litigation counsel with Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, where they conducted regulatory prosecutions, acted in coroner’s inquests, and represented the Ministry and Director of Employment Standards in proceedings before the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
They previously served as counsel with Tribunals Ontario, where they represented multiple tribunals, including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, in judicial reviews and statutory appeals. They also advised adjudicators on procedural fairness, human rights, and legislative interpretation, and contributed to tribunal-wide training and policy work.
Kat holds a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Master’s in Human Geography from the University of Toronto. Their background spans legal clinics, non-profits, and media work, and they have published academic research on the intersections of law, space, and conflict.
